Athletic Programs

All youths that participate in any recreational athletic events sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department are required to show proof of family coverage or purchase recreation insurance at the cost of $8.50. This insurance is valid for one year (September 15-September 15). Any first-time participants are to supply a copy of their birth certificate.

Registration for athletic programs can be done by stopping by the Parks & Recreation Office at 200 N. Franklin Street between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; calling 336-349-1090; mailing in registration information (including a copy of insurance and birth certificate) and payment to 230 W. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC 27320; faxing information to 336-634-3067; or going online at

For certain programs, parents must register for the PAYS program and watch the PAYS video before their child can play. Current PAYS members must renew their memberships upon registration. Go to the website, www.nays.org, and use the following access code: 1157.

Registration information listed below is general unless a specific year is listed. The following programs are available:

Flag Football - Offered for ages 4-6. Registration held in August.

2010 Football Registration

Contact Football - Offered in two divisions, ages 7-9 and 10-12. Registration held in August.

Youth Basketball - Registration held in November and December. The Boys Jr. program for ages 8-12 is held January through March. Boys Superteen (ages 13-15 and 16-18) plays March and April. Girls basketball for ages 8-11 is held in November and December. For girls aged 12-15, the season is held February through April.

Youth Baseball - The Minor League is for those ages 8-10 while the Major League is for youth aged 11-12. Practice begins in April. Regular seasons wrap up in late June or early July.

Pony League Baseball - For ages 13-14, this league runs from May to August.

Girls Softball - Held May to June, the program offers Slow Pitch for ages 8-11 and Fast Pitch for ages 12-15.

Men's Softball - A Summer League and Fall League are offered. The Summer League runs from April to July while Fall ball is played in September & October.

2010 Softball Leagues Forming

Cheerleading - This program is available for ages 7-14. A $25 refundable deposit is required for a cheerleading uniform.
